Broken Boiler - Repair or Replace

Hi,
I have a "Potterton Profile 60" that needs about £500 worth of repairs. My plumber has quoted £1600-£1700 to fix a new boiler, replace a scaled-up pump and power flush the system which seems a pretty reasonable price (comments welcome!).
What I'm tryign to work out, though, is whether it is worth keeping the old one alive a bit longer. I have no knowledge of boilers, so can't tell whether I'm throwing out a Rolls Royce or a Kia.
Any plumbers out there who can venture an opinion on where a "Potterton Profile 60" belongs in the heriarchy of boiler quality, and whether a 15 year old model (in lime-scale ridden central London) is worth repairing?
Many thanks!
Martyn

Only you can really make the final decision, but personally £500 is an awful lot to spend on an old boiler.
What on earth has gone so wrong to cost this much to repair?
Also these are a positive pressure boiler, so worth getting rid of for that reason alone, in terms of safety.0
