Car Insurance - 7 Months?

Hey all
I'm in the RN and will be deploying early April next year for 7 months. As my car is old, I plan to get rid of it (scrap, its a 1994 Honda CRX and not worth anything) before I go away and save for a new one whilst away.
However, my current car insurance is due to expire in September, and I'm now looking at renewals etc. I don't particularly want to go for a 12 month policy as it will cost me to cancel it (last time I checked its usually about 2 months worth of insurance!), so I'm looking at shorter term insurers and wondered if anyone has any recommendations where I should try, or any other ideas?
I need roughly 6-7 months worth of insurance. I don't see the point in keeping it and insuring for 12 months etc for the extra year no claims discount. I'd like to tie up all my loose ends before going away to be honest. Luckily, my tax disc wont be an issue as that runs out just before I deploy!

You will probably get more responses if you post this on the motoring or insurance section of this site.0

Try explaining to the insurance company that your in the armed services alot of companies tend to have a solution for a query like yours, you may find that they waive any admin fees etc if you take out a 1 year insurance and cancel it.0
