I get DP for my son, who is 13. I had to open a new account in my name, as my son is too young to administer the account himself. Also, my son has learning difficulties and developmental delay (among other things!) and would not understand or be able to deal with DP himself.
I use an ordinary current account, with cheque book but no guarantee card (a month's wages for the PA is more than £100, so it wasn't worth getting a guarantee card, and I believe that some banks don't issue them any more anyway).0 -
it depends on how you pay the PA and also your own lifestyle. you can use any current account or easy access account really. i opened a halifax easycash account, and will do cash payments to PA. this is what works for me but you might want to give them a cheque like the above poster.
some areas have a direct payments service - here we have a disability charity who will do a 'supported bank account' where they manage everything like the payroll etc and do a BACS payment to the P on your behalf. you could enquire with your social services or local information services0 -

I have a plain old current account for mine. I have a cheque book (useful for paying for my employer's insurance) and pay my PA and the HMRC by bank tranfer through my online banking.Original debts: £14,250
Still to pay: £250 /£950 - Lloyds TSB overdraft (although with interest and charges, I've already paid £1,675!)
VSP#150 - £68.250
