Lexmark Printer won't print black ink

Hi guys, I have a Lexmark X6150 all in one printer, which steadfastly refuses to print in black. I have done maintenance (allignment, cleaning) taken the cartridge out and cleaned it and it works once but then either won't complete the next task or simply comes up with an error message - 50C, which I can't find anywhere in the online help facilities.
Any ideas as to what I, or it, am doing wrong.
thanks, David

"Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.
1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below."
This is one item I found when I Googled Lexmark 50C Error Message.
Try it and see what you find!
