How to pay son?

Our 14 year old son has been helping hubby in his business over the Christmas break and hubby has promised to pay him but is unsure of how to do it through the business.
As he is under 16, our son does't have a NI number either so help on this would appreciated.

I think that you can make a one-off payment to him without it having any implications for your end of year payroll return.
I'm presuming that this payment isn't going to take your son over his tax free personal allowance (he gets the same as the rest of us, just over £5000), and I'm fairly sure that he doesn't have to pay any NI because he's under 16.
Is your DH self-employed? If he is, can you ask the accountant?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I don't know the answer but it must be possible to pay him in some official way as presumably newsagents payments to paper boys go through the books. May be phone the inland revenue (possibly anonymously!)?0

NO..... no you can legaly pay him in cash, as you get a NI number 1-3 months before your 16th birthday therefore you can legaly pay him, for more information visit: http://www.connexions-direct.com/index.cfm?pid=75&catalogueContentID=120
you could take a paper round as an example - cash in hand or any other part time job (under 16)
