Never, EVER buy a replacement boiler or central heating from British Gas.

They will always be far more expensive than other installers.

15 usually :-) much longer than the manufacturers though, think there are quite a few who don't repair their own product past 8 years old.

The peace of mind with Bg is the fact they aren't going anywhere, if it turns out you need another flush toward the end of your warranty you'll get one....wheras your indie, even if he hasn't emigrated, is not going to be keen to lose a pay job to carry out a callback. You know, that kind of thing.

I've had loads of dirt cheap bg quotes and lots of sky high ones, same old advice....get several and go with the one you're happiest with.

The quote is for the job 18 years old or 80, wheather she lives on a pension or has millions in the bank is none of the sales guys business.

My mum who is in her 80's mentioned today she would need to cut down on her food shopping.
Asking why she said the "Gas Service Man" said her boiler needed replaced and the cost....£3800 and that was with discount!!!!
Stories about hardnosed BG salesmen saying and doing whatever it takes to close the deal with no regard for vulnerable people can be found by the thousands.

As for the discount: what discount? I can offer a "£1000 discount" if I first double my price for a boiler swap.
