Wheel locking nuts-Anti theft help needed
I urgently need to buy some wheel locking nuts for my Almera but there is a massive price difference on them.(From ebay to Halfords)Can anyone answer a question about the individuality of the nuts. Are they all the same or is each set different?I have read that McGard is the only make worth using ,is this true? I want to buy some today as yesterday morning i awoke to find that some lowlife had removed all 4 wheels from my car
.Its parked on a public road and i cant change where its parked overnight, so i want to make it as difficult as possible for any future thief. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Any locking nuts are better than none as a deterrent. The best ones are the type that seperate and leave 3/5 holes for the studs on the key to go into - otherwise it's possible to hammer on a smaller socket and just remove them0

Have you tried Nissan. They might not be that expensive. The best ones are the ones that have an outer that spins round so even if a socket was hammered on it would just spin.0

They don't work tbh - I had one off (not illegaly i might add) with a small socket and a screwdriver in 5 mins0

Why would anyone want to nick the wheels off a Nissan?, or are they worth more than a complete car?

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Why did you not have locks on them before last night? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Any locking nuts can be removed with the right tool. You can buy them in sets to remove virtually all locking nuts
or make your own quite simply and cheaply.
Mentioned above... the type with holes in the top face can be removed quite easily with several ground down
screwdrivers and a bar to twist them.
Spinning outer covers are good if they are strong enough to resist the clamping force of hammering a socket onto
them, Most are not.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
No idea, they werent worth much.cyclonebri1 wrote: »Why would anyone want to nick the wheels off a Nissan?, or are they worth more than a complete car?

I had just bought the car. Thanks for your helpful post :TWhy did you not have locks on them before last night?
I bought McGards ones from Halfords 36.99
That should slow down any attempt at least.I also have got some from ebay which were dirt cheap.3 different nuts out of 4 on each wheel should confuse any future attempt at least. Now looking for a good steering wheel lock to back up my car alarm.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. I'm going to post again as this is unusual to me.
As far as I can see the only reason anyone would want a set of wheels from an Almera is because their own tyres are bald??
I'm just saying to me it appears to be a 1 off.;)
If you want to prevent your car being stolen then an immobiliser is the way to go, but, the scum bags know that an aging Almera is easy pickings and will still make an untidy mess of trying to get the thing away,
Sorry I know it's not what you wanted to hear but I think it's pretty close to the mark.

well today i got a steering lock from freecycle so thats an extra item to slow down any attempted theft.
I have seen a couple of Almera`s that have been `pimped up`.I parked alongside an exact one at some traffic lights a week ago which was quite funny. It had been blinged to make it look trendy.I have done all i can to protect it and i cannot worry every night about whether its being broken into. Thanks for all the replies even the ones that were not very constructive
