Partner's father paid for flights, to agent, by credit card. (we repaying him).
Night prior to early am flight, partner kept in at hospital for observation (unknown condition), and advised not to fly:eek:
No direct travel insurance taken out by us.
Can her father reclaim all or a proportion of cost of flight?

Definately not unless the tickets were refundable. If its a low cost airline, the only hope is taxes minus admin fee which usually means nothing at all, if its a full service airline, if you cancelled the flights prior to the time of departure, you might get most of the tax back but this is what insurance is for. I cannot undertand people who think that insurance is the last thing to buy, its the most important purchase after the travel arrangements, around 50% of all claims are for cancellation costs like this. Sorry but most if not all the cost is gone.
