Need help buying a bed & mattress

I need to buy a bed and mattress.

I've never bought a bed before so have no idea what all the different mattress options are - it's all very confusing!

I also need a supplier that delivers on your specified date, as I'm pregnant and moving house, so can't be without a bed.

Would appreciate any helpful advice or recommendations! Oh, and our budget is about £600-700 in total.

Go to several different stores and try the beds and decide which you prefer.

    Then try:-

They do deliver when they say they will !

    Thank you!

Just having a look now and the prices seem good. Will have to spend the weekend trying beds out now - oh well, can think of harder things to do ;)

A word of warning about mattresses. Check the depth. We bought a new mattress for our bed which is so deep the sheets are no longer big enough to tuck in!
  • Do the research first. Tried in stores and they would only lower the price by 5-10%. Then brought on line £378....price in store Essex Beds £648....

    Thanks everyone.

I've just spent the afternoon at MFI trying out various beds. The annoying thing about MFI is that they appear to rename everything so it's really hard to make comparisons on the internet. I'm managing to decipher it all though, haha. And there's a good reason they do that - you can get them much cheaper elsewhere, even with their halfprice plus 20% off everything 'sale'. You can't fool a Money Saver :D

So now - a bedstead or a divan? Apparently the divan mattresses don't last very long on the bedsteads, and the divan mattresses are so much more comfortable. I don't think they look as nice as bedsteads though.

Hmm, think that when I'm 8 months pregnant and can't sleep the comfort will be more of an issue than the look though...

Found the bed I want at Bedworld and it works out a whopping £360 cheaper than MFI, which means I can upgrade and go for the Kingsize with storage and still save £190.

    Thank you!

Check out https://www.mattressman.co.uk but via quidco for 6% cashback. They delivery next day btwn 8am and 1pm for free. I bought my bed for half the price of my local store.

Edit, just checked quidco and they do Bedworld for 6% too. Make sure you buy through them.

Went through Bedworld, I really wouldn't recommend them, bed was really, really late and they've been really unhelpful. Grr!
  • I went to MFI (using my Tesco clubcard vouchers) but wouldn't recommend them. It took over 1 month for a complete delivery of the bed frame, mattress and slats to be made!
