Insurance History record

Hi there,
I recently moved house, and in doing so mislaid the folder in which i keep all my car insurance documents.
I am looking tio switch my car insurance, but to do so, the new insurer will need a record of my NCB history. However, without the folder, i really cant remember who i have been insured with in the past 4-5 years.
Is there a database or a place where this is recorded? I know there is the motor insurance database, but from looking at their site, it seems like it only records whether or not you have insurance, not hich company you are insured with?
Any help would be appreciated, it would potentially save my hundreds of pounds!
Thanks

you'll only need the proof of NCD from your last insurer, not the last 4 / 5 years. If you're still insured and cancelling then they should send you a new proof of NCD (as you'd have sent them your last one).0

Can you look back through bank or credit card records to see who you paid it to?0

Not strictly allowed, but with a bit of imagination AskMID will give you the name of your insurers and your policy number for £3.75.
Why wouldn't it be allowed? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Oh... I thought I was on your ignore list.

Not quite, but if you are going to insist....:DSome people may find it difficult to tick the box starting "I confirm that I am..."
Read the application form and find out the rest.
But then.....
I understand that it is an offence to wrongfully obtain information of this nature without reasonable cause.......
......I would imagine checking who you're insured with is reasonable cause. But I suppose that might be open to interpretation. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
