Tax credits and time off in lieu of payment - help!

My partner's employer gave him time off in lieu of payment for overtime as the company was short of money. When his P60 arrived it had this overtime included as if it had been paid. Now our tax credits renewal is down by around 1,000 and we are really worried. It looks as though he earned about 2,000 more than he actually did. Is there anything we can do or is this all normal? Any help would be very very much appreciated.

You would need to speak to his employer and get a new P60. But if you have already given the figures to tax credits, which you should of as its past the deadline then dont think theres much you can do there

Are you sure that the time he has had off in lieu of payment should not be included on the p60 as taxable?

    Thanks for the quick reply!!

TOIL is not taxable, that would be ridiculous, he's working the same hours as if he didn't do the overtime just on different days. If the P60 includes pay he's not actually received he needs to get his employer to correct it ASAP. But is this really the case, it sounds very strange? What does it say on the wage slips?

I wonder if there is something more going on at the employer's end - that they put an overtime payment through the books as if it was paid out to your OH, but actually it was diverted elsewhere.
