Hi, we have our airmiles vouchers for chessington :j
We are staying one night next weekend (though dates are flexible) and dont know which is the best way to travel. I drive, but dont feel confident enough to drive all that way (i only passed in april), but public transport is coming up at £100 just to get to london - then we'd still have to get to chessington from there. Or am i missing something? I havnt got very good navigational skills so dont really even know what to put in the destination box? Please help, as we have saved on the tickets really dont want to spend £150+ on getting there.
Thanks

Cardiff to Victoria early start next Friday is £6 per person and the return journey is the same price on www.megabus.com on the saturday so £12 per person. In London you can either go from Vauxhall station or Waterloo to Chessington South. You can get a zone 1-6 daily travelcard that will cover you for all buses and tubes in London and as Chessington South is in zone 6 you can use TC to travel there. If you purchase after 9.30am on a weekday for off peak cheaper rates it cost £8 for adults, children under 11 travel free and 11-16 year olds a daily 1-6 TC is £3. From Victoria bus station it is a few minutes walk to Victoria tube station, then get the Victoria line 2 stops to vauxhall which would take about 5 mins of a journey time or you can get the circle or district line from Victoria to Waterloo journey time 10 minutes to pick up the connection to Chessington South (about half hour jounrey time on train).
www.tfl.gov.uk you can use journey planner to check the fastest route from the time your caoch arrives in London to get to Chessington.0 -
I know you say you're no confident about driving but its really the simplest journey, M4 all the way to the M25 then a few junctions and Chessington is signposted all the way.. it would save you loads, could you borrow a sat-nav which would give you extra confidence maybe? I did the journey in reverse a few weeks ago from London to Tenby and was a little nervous but it really was the most straight forward journey..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

thank you both fr your replies, and no dis respecct intended susan but all that sounds sooo complicated lol! I know it probably isnt but i really dont want to be on and off tubes/buses trains. Thank you for the info though
Tanith if your saying its a really easy drive then i might just go for it. any idea on the fuel cost? (tenby is about 100 miles from me) I think if i had a sat nav id be ok, im not afraid of motorway driving i just hate big roundabouts with like 10 lanes and traffic coming from every which way! It sounds staright forward enough though
Thanks both xEveryone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -
I must admit It would be far easier to drive to Chessington in my opinion too, than using public transport, as it is a straight forward journey. If you go on googlemaps- get directions and put in your postcode and Chessington World Of Adventures it will show you the journey. I put in Cardiff to Chessington World Of Adventures and Googlemaps estimate the fuel to cost about £29.75 one way.

Thanks susancs, i think we will go for that, with public transport being too expensive and full of hassle.:beer:Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0
