slow start up and blank screen

in Techie Stuff
for the last few days my laptop has been taking ages to start up and the screen stays blank for ages......any ideas what this can be and how i could fix it..
i have taken off the free avg virus thingy as that seem to make it take even longer to get started... any other free ones to recommend??
i also have the crap cleaner which i use every time i am switching off!!

Yeah its probably best to turn off that antivirus thingy and that cleaner as you really need a virus just to make sure if those to things worked at all :rolleyes:
I would reinstall or turn back on both of those programs firstly, now have you any other antivirus programs on the PC aswell? have you a firewall apart from the windows firewall are you using XP? have you installed anything lately thats made the changes thats slowing down your PC?0 -
