Hi, I was wondering if anyone would like to recommend a mobile handset please.
This phone is for someone 80 plus years.
Never owned or used a mobile before.
I was thinking perhaps unlocked, easy to make calls, good clear numbers. The phone will only ever be used to make and receive calls.
Will not be sending Text messages either.
Look forward to your recommendations.

The OT200 recommended by grumbler is worth looking at - primarily because it doesn't allow text messages - so this avoids any possible confusion or complications. Also means the buttons are clearer as there are no letters squashed in on the keypad.
£19.99 delivered is pretty reasonable.
4% cashback, too, with quidco.0 -
Thank you all for replies.
Think I will be going for the OT200.
Just a couple of questions if you can help.
Does not mention if battery, USB cable and charger are included.
Also can I use Talk Mobile and or Asda Sim card.
Can't find any reviews for the phone, not heard of Mexon either.
Thanks again.0 -
SIM Free = unlocked, i.e. works with all cards (except '3' = 3g).
I guess you are joking about USB.
I'd be very surprised if any phone came without a battery and a charger.0 -
Thanks grumbler, Just thought I should double check.
Afraid I am not up to speed on mobile phones.
Not easy when buying for someone else.
Thank you for your help.0 -
Hello again, Big button OT200 arrived today, nice looking phone, perfect for the 80 plus person that it is intended for.
Still need your help. I will quote from the user guide.
SIM CARD Codes/password
ATTENTION. To activate or deactivate this function the SIM Card must be inserted in a standard GSM phone as this phone does not have this function
What is GSM ? And what do I need to do now ? I thought all I needed to do would be buy Asda SIM and £10 top up.
I use Asda PAYG myself in my own mobile.
Hope someone can advise.0 -
It's difficult to say. This phone is a GSM phone, but is not 'standard' I guess.
All phones are GSM except those working on '3' network only. Your Asda phone is GSM.0 -
Put the SIM in your own phone to activate the SIM. Then take it out and put it in the OT200.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

SIM codes. If you set a password normally four numbers on a SIM card, when the phone is switched on it will ask for the password. But a new SIM card will not have a password enabled so just put the Asda SIM in the phone and switch it on.
GSM is the standard for mobiles in most of the world.0
