I was recommended Quinoderm cream by my a lady in my local chemsit, it costs about £2.50 (also available in Boots, Tesco etc)
It is an acne treatment BUT i dont suffer with acne and i only use it sparingly (sp) once a day.
It cleared up my face and i no longer break out before my period is due :)
I dont use any cleansers or anything on my face now, i just apply the cream then my moisturiser (with a touch of foundation) and voila!
I wash it off in the evening with warm water.
My skin has never looked so good (imo)

I also use quinoderm, it comes in 2 strengths. If you do try this though make sure hands are washed well after applying, I have ruined all our egyptian cotton towels, gone from latte to orange! Have also been known to stain bedsheets/ duvet so apply well before going to lay down :)

I went to see a dermatologist about mine. Apparently it's called adult onset acne, in my case :(

He just said to keep skin clear & clean as treatments were too strong for my skin(???)

I use the Origins spot gel as well and it is brill. I use it under make up, but I use Bare Escentuals mineral powders, so I think that helps to dry them up as well.

Just had a thought: are you sure these are spots or something else? There is a condition called Ketosis Pilaris (sp!) where your upper body and sometimes your uper thighs get what looks like lots of white heads- if your gross like me and pick at them, white is at the core and they heal over and just reform somewhere else or even the same place.

The only thing you can do with KP is to exfoliate and use a medicated moisturiser (Euracin make one with 10% urea in- its the urea which helps) it doesn't take the problem away but helps a bit.

A derm. wont be able to prevent nor stop it (if it is KP) as its one of those unsolved mysteries. Both men and women can get it but women tend to get it much more which makes me wonder just how much of it is hormonal...but thats my opinion and I am not a scientist! (just a sufferer :( )

I don't think this has anything to do with you age cookie .

Are you using something new on your hair ? maybe a new shampoo ? Hair spray ? conditioner? even a new soap could cause this .

Spot on Mandi, the distribution is highly suggestive of a sebborheic cause. I wouldn't medicalise it just yet, but would suggest that the cosmetic problems are fine for the odd isolated spot.

Quinodern of Freederm are much better bets, apply sparingly at first as they may cause skin irritation, and keep out of the sun. Do be aware that Quinoderm can bleach dye, it's important to remember given that you will be applying this to your chest and back as this can permamently ruin cothes, bedsheets etc.

Advice from a professional and long-term acne sufferer! Heading towards 40, my skin has never looked better.

I never knew it came in 2 strenghts.
Mine is in the purple tube, available over the counter.
I litrally apply only a very tiny amount.
I must already wash my hands fine as i've never stained or ruined my towels or bedding.
I dont doubt what you are saying just very suprised, if it can do that to a towel then what does it do to a face :rotfl:

I have adult onset acne as well and after about six months of all the above treatments, I persuaded my doctor to prescribe antibiotics, which did the trick.

So if the home remedies dont help, try your doctor, my skin cleared up in eight weeks after months of getting worse month by month.

You can get it with 5% & 10% Benzoyl Peroxide , which if I remember from when I was prescribed it, bleaches rather than stains, it's nasty stuff.
I agree with Mandi, you should try & work out if there is something causing this, may even be worth seeing your GP.
For the odd breakout I swear by Vichy NormaDerm Active Anti Imperfection Concentrate it can clear a spot overnight sometimes.
    Booo!!!
