Effective spot treatment

Hi folks - approaching the dreaded 4 - 0 next year and for some reason my skin has broken out and I look like a teenager (well not quite, but you get my drift!!). It's not just on my face but on my shoulders, on my boobs and around my hair line. I've been using some Clear and Clean and Clearasil stuff, but it doesn't seem to be doing much good and wonder if anyone has got any suggestions for a fast acting spot treatment!

TIA

Dab of toothpaste (obviously on the bits that don't show or at night!) to dry them out - but it's probably just Hormones (again!!)

Origins "on the spot" - I swear it has magical powers!
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

  • I can highly recommend Avon professional blemish pads. Also the oil cleansing method is highly rated on here.

Origins on-the-spot is a good one: though apply at night, wash off the next day as it can mess with makeup when applied.

Both Garnier and Simple have spot-roll ons which are also good and work well, can be used with makeup (just allow to dry first).

But as long as you remember in all this: you mentioned your age OP, much about acne and spots can be attributed to age and this can be something you may be able to get medication for so speak to your GP about this. I'd say the treatments mentioned still work well but it'd just be so much easier for you if you were able to find more of the cause and prevent them from even surfacing.

I don't think this has anything to do with you age cookie .

Are you using something new on your hair ? maybe a new shampoo ? Hair spray ? conditioner? even a new soap could cause this .
  • Thanks for you advice guys, really appreciate it. Have seen the roll on ones you mention so will give them a try. I've been using the superdrug hot cloth cleanser on my face, it was recommended on here, but this was after the breakout, Ive heard of Origin products, but don't have any where locally to buy them. Its just so annoying that I can't wear strappy tops cos of the little blighters. I do when I'm at home, I remember my mum saying, again when I was young to "let them get some fresh air". It was the answer to everything back in the day!!

    Thanks all

This is not popular with everyone but Freederm works wonders for dd and me, I'm about your age and had spots until I discovered this product a few years ago, I'm not suggesting that you do this but I ignore the instructions and apply twce a day to the problem area until they are gone (2-3 weeks for large areas, days for the odd one) and then once a day or every other day for maintenance, now I hardly need it at all:j - hth:)
Thank you for this site Martin

When tested they found that most spot treatments only worked because you had to wash your face before.
Spots eat grease on your skin, wash it off,

I was recommended Quinoderm cream by my a lady in my local chemsit, it costs about £2.50 (also available in Boots, Tesco etc)
It is an acne treatment BUT i dont suffer with acne and i only use it sparingly (sp) once a day.
It cleared up my face and i no longer break out before my period is due :)
I dont use any cleansers or anything on my face now, i just apply the cream then my moisturiser (with a touch of foundation) and voila!
I wash it off in the evening with warm water.
My skin has never looked so good (imo)

I hang out with cats too much. I entered this thread all ready to talk about flea spot on treatment.
