Dirt Cheap "homeless" Holiday?

I'm a male student, single, young, and don't have much money. I'm not bothered about "living rough" on holiday. I can get flights from the UK to the Mediterranean for under £100 return including taxes. I can cram the few things I need in my free hand luggage and just wear the rest. I can buy cheap food from supermarkets once I get there, as long as I'm somewhere warm I'm happy

Is there any good reason why I couldn't just buy a basic tent and sleep in a secluded part of the beach/field in Majorca or Ibiza? The climate seems warm enough that a hotel isn't even necessary.....? Since I wouldn't be paying for accommodation I could stay a while. Do people do this? Is it legal/safe?

Ibiza has campsites which would be safer. It is a busy island and rough camping incognito wouldn't be that easy.

    ....but not impossible? :D

Campsites cost money per day. :(

There must be a field a few miles from the party somewhere that nobody ever visits (and nobody knows about), I'm healthy, I can walk a few miles....?

Is a tent necessary at this time of year? If you're planning to camp on the fly, a tent would be obvious to others, especially if you leave it up all day. Why not just take a light sleeping bag and a foam mat and no-one will notice you if you're careful.

If you're travelling hand baggage only, it's easy to carry around each day and you don't have to worry about things getting nicked back at base.

Did all that myself 30 years ago and found that the tent could be a theft magnet in the wrong place (even campsites) and that it was hot enough simply to sleep on beaches or fields. Just travel as light as possible and you'll feel as free as a bird.

Even better. And you're right, I can't see a tent being that important because these places are so hot and it rarely rains. I like the sound of that. So it is feasible then? :)

I've done it too, years ago though. We all had great fun, slept rough but enjoyed the sun, sand and did loads of sight seeing and partying.
You are young so go for it, enjoy
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

When you say "we", were you in a group? Would it make a difference if you were alone?

I did it as a couple, which was fine, but you're even less obtrusive on your own, and more flexible. Don't know where you're going, but I'd be inclined to take a bus to somewhere off the beaten track, start walking and hopefully find a nice quiet cove relatively near a village so it's easy to sunbathe on a beach and stock up on food and stuff as required.

But then you might be a party animal which is a whole different ball game.

I guess a bit of both. But really I'd quite like to meet other people of a similar age (and then maybe party lol)....
