Advice needed - house advertised as freehold becomes leasehold just before exchange!

Is the property on the Land Registry? if so download the title deeds and check when the last transfer of ownership was.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Have you checked if you can buy the freehold - we bought ours a few years ago - it cost about £2000
