Fire in Car Insurance Won't Pay Out
Comments

on the punto the fuse box has the immobilisor built in and this talks to the ecu on the engine
im afraid im not an auto electrician but i know that if this car had a fuse box fire i would need more than a fuse box
i think you need to put some anger towards the garage who tried fixing this fault but were totally out of their depth
try ringing insurer again and explain hopefully to a higher rank the processes you went through to save them and you money
to finish ,fiat would not be able to get communications to work as things stand so car will never fire/run,0

I think most people here have missed the crucial point - it is a fairly standard term in private motor insurance that that part which starts a fire is itself not covered. I.e. if a fuse box melts and starts a fire then resultant damage is covered but the fuse box itself is not.
From your posts it seems like nothing is damaged except the fuse box. Hence there is no cover for the box itself. There is also no insurance cover for the further work required to make the fuse box work as it seems, although I may be wrong, that this is due to the garage's incorrect repair work rather than a direct result of the fire.0

s b thank you for your response, I did not overlook your response as stated in the other post, it was late and I posted the other one without checking this one so please do not take it personal! We have spoken to the garage and will be doing again, thanks again.
raskazz thank you also for your response, I understand that it is in the T&C's about electrical faults etc but the issue we have is that the fault/fire has caused the rest of the car to stop working, not the job that the garage we originally took it to did. We are thinking the problems were already there when the car was bought but again are not 100% sure at this time. thanks0

how do you know the charger wasnt at fault? You would be hard pushed to prove that the car dealer you brought it from is liable, also you have changed a lot. You would of been better going a main dealer from day oneDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
