lm making this post on behalf of my parents..
we had an amazingly bad year in 2009 where they lost their jobs for an alleged crime they never committed.. their employer used gross misconduct which hinged on the fact that my parents committed burglary which was never proved, which meant we were not charged with any crime (which we obviously never committed).
in any case after many issues we lodged a claim for PPI thinking it would allow us time to move out and stop from going into the red zone on their bank balance.. at first they only asked for a month promising things would start up till the point Lloyds decided that in order to claim we had to win the tribunal case (consequently that has also gone up the spout because our solicitor missed deadlines and we cannot reopen the case) which didnt help, so we decided to make a claim on the PPI insurance with CCS.
the claim pretty much started they asked for £199 towards fees which was taken out in two instalments via Credit card (l believe), we were told by CCS that if we won that their fee would be taken from any compensation, a month or two later it seemed our case had been passed onto a firm called AIMs who dealt with the legal side of things..
it became very suspect to me that tho originally everything was arranged using my phone that they couldnt seem to write my mothers phone number down and store it on system, however recently we got what we thought was good news.. the claim had finally been processed and we had won..
what we are left with is a bill for £380, AIMs fees... but hang on a minute here, their fees were supposed to come out of the compensation? and tho we have told we had been awarded we have no idea how much, tho we were told that the compensation was used to lower what was left on their loans.. strangely the letters from the banks debt collectors (about 9 different companies supposedly acting on behalf of Lloyds) are still arriving but whats being asked still hasnt lowered from their original demands for money.. and we are left being threatened for money by a company who was supposed to act on our behalf for £380 more that we just dont have..
as for myself, 2 text messages noting that my parents owe money.. 3 recorded messages from Aims two of which were today in a matter of a couple of mins reminding us to make cheques or whatever payable to them, it did note to press 5 in order to speak to advisor but the first time it rang for 10mins and the second time it went to an engaged tone. all the other calls lve had and constant telling them my mothers number just never had any effect.
is there anywhere we can get advice? maybe even find out where we stand, the insurance let us down and the ppl who were supposed to claim it back for us now want more money for pretty much doing nothing that helped us, it now just feels that its open season for every lender or service thats supposed to help to take money from us and now that we dont have any left we are worried what they eventually will end up taking now the PPI reclaim company is saying they will take us to court for money we owe them.
