we have plenty of time so we are still discussing may hide the pig around the corner lolThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
We're having both, not to be greedy but we're having an intimate Wedding so are making the Wedding Breakfast in the Evening the evenings main event so to speak.
We're having afternoon tea after the ceronomy and a 3 course meal in the evening followed by a midnight snack to soak up the alcohol!Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
I think it's difficult trying to get something you really want as it's your day but then pleasing all the guests. Lucky for us as were marrying abroad all the restuarants are giving us menu's with 4 choices for each course & vegi options too. Some we can choose on the day & others are asking for it two days in advance but either way looks like we will be able to give the guest a good selection:DMarried the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

it depends what you actually want?Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

We're having a choice of chicken, fish or a veggie tartlet with jacket potatoes (all hot) served with a selection of salads served buffet style in the afternoon, and a hog roast with a veggie option in the evening. Hopefully everyone will find something they like!0

We're getting married on Bonfire Night this year and are having winter vegetable soup for starters followed by sausage and mash as the main (veggie sausages for veggies and those who don't eat pork). Starters and main works out to be £14.50 per person and we're serving the wedding cake for dessert, for which the venue don't appear to be charging us.
We've got black peas as the canapes but they're a Lancashire Bonfire Night tradition, not sure you'd have them otherwise! In the evening we've got hot beef butties and our cheese wedding cake, so again something for veggies and non-beef eaters.
If it was solely up to me and OH we'd have loved a huge Japanese banquet because we just love the food - but it's not to everyone's taste and it wouldn't have suited the venue or general feel of the wedding (which is rustic and autumnal). If I'd said we were having Japanese food my Grandma would have just pursed her lips and not said anything, and then bring her own cheese butty and fairy cakes in her handbag. She'll probably do that anyway "just in case"!
Poppyoscar above makes a very good point - if you go too fancy it will just go to waste. Personally I always eat whatever's put in front of me and it's one of my favourite parts of being a wedding guest! But a lot of people are fussy - no doubt they'll be polite about it but you certainly don't want people going hungry and sneaking out for a takeaway!0 -
what time is your ceremony as i think that plays a part in food idea's - we're having our ceremony at 3.30 and then afternoon tea at 5 followed by our evening reception tsarting at 7pm where we're having a hog roast bbq with salads!0

Thanks for all your replies.
The ceremony is at 1, so looking at having the food about 3:30.
I'm just worried that people will get hungry as we will prob have evening buffet around 8:30.

I just wonder whether it worth spending more on nibbles whilst the photos are being taken so i can save a bit more on the wedding breakfast as people wold on filled up on nibbles and i can make a hog roast go frther also going to use the wedding cake as desert.:kisses3: Married 29th September 2012

I've been wondering the same too - afternoon tea vs BBQ or both. I can't see that afternoon tea will be enough to keep people full, but then I don't want that too late in the day so that the BBQ goes to waste or is in the middle of the night..........0
