Hi Ladies
I was just wondering what you were having for your wedding breakfast. I need a little inspiration.
We originally decided on afternoon tea, then changed our minds to a BBQ, and now we are back to afternoon tea. But now i don't think i want it
The venue we have booked charge around £38 per person for a 3 course wedding breakfast.

i want a hog roast but OH is jewish so 1/2 of the people wouldnt eat it

now looking at 'normal' wedding food
but loads of people have things like fish and chips, indian takeaways, pizza delivery, hot and cold buffets, chineese takeaway, doing loads of food yourself, asking everyone to bring a dish and having a picnic, afternnon teas (i know you said that already) something carribean
where are you going on honeymoon?
what is your theme?
anything u and OH hate?
any religious or other praticalities that need considering?
formal sit down meal or informal do what you like sort of thing?
if you can answer these then some people might have some better ideasThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
Danielle I was thinking of posting a similar thread I'm really stuck with this.
I was originally wanting an afternoon tea too to save on costs, but because of the way our venue works an afternoon tea is £27.50 per head and the three course sit down meals start from £32 per head. I'm thinking for £5 more a three course meal might be nice, and then keep going back to afternoon tea.
I'm going to a wedding tomorrow so hoping their choices might help my decisions!!!

I'm having the same dilemma! Really want a hog roast / BBQ or afternoon tea, but keep coming back to a wedding breakfast when looking at venues...just can't make my mind up. My sister got married last summer and had a hog roast, it was absolutely delicious and everyone loved it. Not much help I know, just wanted you to know I'm in the same pickle!xx0

Have you thought of having a lamb roast instead? Similar concept and they're still very yummy!0 -
We had a carvery which was great as everyone could have exactly what they wanted from it and as much or as little as they wanted too

I know it is the Bride and Grooms day but I went to a wedding last week where the wedding breakfast cost £50.00 per head.
On our table of 9 only 4 people ate the starter.6 people ate the main course(what there was of it!!) and 6 ate the dessert. Some were so hungry they went out for a takeaway after and then came back.
I just think it is such a shame to pay out so much money and for some people to still be hungry.
Surely it would be better to have a choice of say two options when sending out the invitation?
I personally prefer a buffet as there is usually something for everyone.0 -
We're having a Nepalese curry buffet - 5 different startes, a chicken dish, a lamb dish, 2 veggie dishes and a daal, plus rice and naan, then one type of dessert - for £16 per head, not including drinks.
As probably not everyone will like it all, we're going to have a very plain buffet in the evening so they can fill up on sausage rolls

Sounds lovely! Can I come?:D
Doublemummy - could you get a rotisserie with chicken rather than pig? Or even lamb?
DanielleNic87 - what time of year and time of day are you getting married? A buffet of salads and cold dishes might be more suitable than a hot, sit-down dinner in the summer, and is a bit more informal. But if it is a winter evening people will appreciate a hot dinner. If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0
