House needs completely rewiring (3 bed). Electrician said to rip out everything, new wires, box thing, sockets etc, all chased in would be about £1700 and 1 weeks work. Without going into specifics (as I don't know them) is that about right?
Thanks

My sister has been quoted exactly the same (ex VAT) for a three bed terraced. So I would say, yes, thats about right.

The price will depend on how many sockets you have and if you're going for 1 central light in each room - this is cheaper than downlights for example. Make sure you tell the electrician exactly what you want or you might end up with too few sockets0

Sounds very cheap to me. We have a 3 bed end terrace. To rewire, inc extractor in (to be) new bathroom, new fusebox, heat and smoke detectors, and TV amplifier distributor (6 way wired for now to 4 rooms) and the quote is nearly double that (it is about £3000 exc VAT)! It doesn't include much in the kitchen as we are extending that so we will need that re-doing, but they have put a new ring main in ready for this and the extension. If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0

Price is about right for a standard spec.0
