Hi, misters,
You need to list
bank and building society accounts
insurance policies
premium bonds
outstanding loans ( including mortgage )
credit cards
shares
unit trusts and other collective investments
In each case, give the name of the institution with which the asset/liability is held, and any relevant account numbers. In the case of internet banks, just say " ING account number so-and-so ( internet )".
You might like to add any other valuable items, like jewellery, and information such as the names and addresses of your solicitor, accountant, stockbroker - any professional adviser.

Interesting thread, as Ive wondered about this myself. I wasnt sure if a list of accounts was a bad idea or not, as where would I keep it, or if someone got hold of it, what then? I know there would be no passwords or sensitive info on the list, but some people know all my details that I know, and Ive learned the hard way that people you trust one day, can stab you in the back the next!
Another point that someone raised, was forgetting old accounts. Ive done this before, when I was shredding lots of old financial papers, I found a welcome pack for sainsburys bank, where I opened a savings account when the banking division first opened, maybe 10 years ago. Turned out I had just over £300 in there with all the interest that had been added on. Ok, not exactly a pot of gold, but its still beats the feeling of finding £10 in your jeans you had forgotten about0 -

Well, you could simply list institutions, without account numbers. Just write something like " accounts are held with the following " and then list the names of the banks etc. Or invest in a small, lockable filing cabinet.
