Scottish Gas ....
Options
Hi people, just need a little bit of help here. Basically im a fist time buyer, just bought and moved into my home in August. I phone scottish gas and was told i should expect to pay about £40 - £50 per month for my gas (its only a 2 bed semi) I thought that was reasonable so i signed up. In november myself and my boyfriend realised we were topping up the gas meter around £100 odd quid a month. I called the company up and explained that I thought we were paying over the odds for gas as we only ever put 2 radiators on in the house and we didnt have a gas cooker or a shower that was powered by gas. They confirmed that i wa spaying too much and was to date £189 in credit. They said it would go to an investigation department and i should expect to receive a cheque within 14 working days. I then called in the middle of december to question why i had not heard anything. I was told (by a very cheeky member of their staff) that i was now £215 in credit as i still had to top up my meter to heat my home. They said that another investigation would take place and i would hear something the first week in january. Soooo i called last night to find out that they have cleared the meter and now i am only £8 in credit. I advised them i must be owed more than that as we are paying around £100-£150 per month for gas which is unexceptable. I have found out that this is a common thing from scottish gas and some people have been waiting months even years for money. I have now contacted the Energy Ombudsman who have referred me back to SG to go through their complaints procedure but what no-one at SG realises is that we are still paying around £30-40 per week for gas untill they sort this mess out. I really need help from someone who has been or is in the same situation im in to give me some advice. Thank you x

Not tried them yet but i will do it now thanks x. Im not on a direct debit, its a gas card that I need to top up at the post office. Iv never had one before but have been told they are a nightmare. They have told me i cant change over to a bill untill the investigation has finished but soon as it is over im changing to a different gas provider as im disgusted with the level of customer service i have received from them when im the one in the right.:dance:When Life Hands You Lemons...Ask For A Bottle Of Tequila
