Excel Parking 'fine'

Hi,
I need some advice and reassurance. I received a parking charge notice from Excel Parking for non display of a ticket whilst in a supermarket car park. The 'fine' arrived whilst i was away on holiday. I open the letter when i returned from my hols. It stated i needed to pay £60 withinn 14 days or the fine would increase to £100. As i had gone over the 14 day period by three days i tried to contact Excel via phone to state i had been away but was unable to speak to anyone. (After reading the posts on this forum i can now understand how these companies work!)
I was bit worried so i paid the 60 pounds (hoping they would not contact me for the full amount.) However, i have just received another letter from Excel asking for the additional 40 pounds and stating 'failure to comply may result in the issue of court proceedings whereby further costs will be incurred.
I read the posts in this forum after i had paid this 'fine' so now realised i should have ingnored them completely and not paid anything. (kicking myself now). However, now i have paid 60 pounds do you thing Excel will take it further, court etc for the additional 40 pounds?
I am quite anxious about the situation so would be grateful for any advice or information.
Many thanks.

Just ignore them from now on, you will probably be subjected to Excel's usual letter-chain as shown in our top thread:

What a shame you paid the scammers some money, do not fall for such a con again. Just because something looks like a legit parking ticket doesn't mean it is!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for your replies Coupon-mad and Oxford. I just wished i had read this forum before i had paid. I didn't realise these so called fines were like 'invoices' and companies just charge what they like. Well at least i know now and can advice others. I very rarely receive parking fines and i'm normally very good at paying and displaying a ticket. I have learnt my lesson now:)
Thanks once again.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it-
