e2save?

What do you think of this:

http://www.e2save.com/mobile/phones/disphandset.php?network=virgin&handset=L6BLUECL

I know the first reaction with a contract phone is to worry about the commitment, but they are effectively making it free to use the phone. I assume they make their money on people going over the minute and text allowance but I cannot see me doing that.

The only downside is the insurance which is £7.99 a month after 3 months which can be cancelled. As I will be getting a home insurance policy which covers goods outside of the home this will be redundant and easily cancelled without any worry.

It also gives £36.50 CASHBACK THROUGH QUIDCO. So they are effectively paying you £36.50 to use their phone.

Has anyone had any experience with e2save? Just wandering what to expect.

Thanks.

  • Do you have to mess around with sending cashback vouchers to them or do they simply not charge anything on a monthly basis? Just wandering how they handle the offers and free months.

its a cashback, you send in bills after 6, 8, 10 and 12 months i think (mine is anyway) and they send you a cheque back. so there is outlay, but then its refunded at these intervals.

I would be very wary of using e2save and any of their cashback schemes. Some I have had go through without an issue, but there seems to be something fishy going on at the moment when you order a phone toward the end of the month.

From personal experience I had a letter in writing telling me I sent the first cashback a month too early and to send the next one, which was confirmed verbally when i was also instructed to send the 4th bill after the correct 1st one which they accepted to claim my second. Upon doing this they rejected my second cashback claim saying it was a month too late, despite my following their explicit instructions and having a letter from the Customer Services Director. They have so far refused to honour this, and from other peoples experiences I am personally wondering if its an intentional device they are employing to avoid more payouts as it seems too common to be an error that has not been resolved. See: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=324544

If you do decide to proceed, i would strongly recommend buying through them at the start of the month to try and avoid the above.

Good luck with their cashback system.

I'm still waiting for my 2nd cashback which apparently was sent to my old address, although my 1st cashback still managed to make it to my new address.

Fortunately they posted one of their 'gift' alternatives to cashback to me, for no reason whatsoever. Valued at two of my three cashbacks.

I'll still be chasing my 2nd cashback.

I've always sent mine recorded and had no prblem at all. Never once used the contract, just needed and upgrade. I have had no problem whatsoever - BUT - if you do go with them, make sure you check your online account to see which months statements you have to send in. I had to send in every 4 months but to them, the first one I had to send in was my 5th month (in my estimations), so just be careful, and don't guess!
  • I have a phone with them - actual cost £2.50 a month for 100 texts and 250 mins. I received an initial automatic chequeback of £81 after the first month.
Not done the send the invoice in bit yet.
