asked to leave train with split ticket
Comments
-
Hmmmm.... this is the second post in the past few weeks where a poster has purchased split tickets from Reading with the split being at Banbury and being told they'd need to get off the train at Banbury.
Is there a training issue at Reading, or something specific with these tickets?Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0

We never got to the bottom of the one before as they may have had a Chiltern only ticket which wouldve meant they had to get off and get the Chiltern service up to brum.one of the famous 5 0 0

Just a typical TOC trying to rip the customer off, inconvenience the customer, try and make the customer buy more expensive tickets etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary going on here.0

I knew this post had a familiar sound to it, but couldn't find it when I searched so thank you for the link.
IMHO I think a train manager on the XC line from Reading to Banbury needs to have some remedial training on the conditions of split ticketing.
Unless the OP was travelling on advance tickets, as I can't seem to find any TOC specific Anytime/Off Peak Tickets for that route and the route from Banbury to Coventry.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0

Shut up. There was nothing in the post about being forced to buy another ticket - just join another train at said station. If your going to spout off at least have a clue what your going on about.one of the famous 5 0 0

I get the impression the inspector was just being an a55 because you were being "cheeky".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If a ticket inspector asks to see your ticket, you must (quantum mechanics notwithstanding) be at some particular location.
So you show him a ticket that is valid for the the part of the journey that encompasses that location.
Provided the train will stop/has stopped at the interchange location, you are showing him a perfectly valid ticket for the journey that you are undertaking.
Even if he asks to see your ticket before the stop and the again immediately afterwards you will always be able to show him a valid ticket for the journey that you are undertaking. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

Moral may be don't show him both tickets at once.0

Two almost identical posts, same problem, newbies' first posts ............... 0 0

The tickets were 2 standard peak time tickets.
However they had each been stamped with a 'validation explained' stamp, something I had never seen before, thus had to show both tickets. normally i would just show the one corresponding to that section of the route.
Moonrakerz - not sure what point you are making. I'm sure its very helpful though.0
