Don't be scared of facing the world about your issues. I have never really gambled much, but spend way too much on other things that I wish i didn't. The folks on here are great and help each other out.:beer:0

If you are actually going into a bookmakers to gamble they are able to help you stop. There are such things as self exclusion forms. you provide a passport photograph and fill in a few details. once you have done this and signed and dated it is actually illegal for you enter the premesis (you can usually name a few shops in the area) It is your duty to remember to stay out but the staff can also (politley) ask you to leave if they see you. I do emphasise that its your reponsibility and not the staff though.
Also Gamcare are a company to provide support.
well done for taking the first step though. I have seen that there are a lot of supportive people on these boards.0 -

I'm another (ex)-gambler, Oregon. I wish I'd found this place before I stopped gambling, I'd have stopped sooner. Welcome to the boards.0

My huband ran up a six figure sum (of my money) and it was scratch cards (£5 a go). He's been 'clean' for just over four years and we got through it, are married and have a child. It is possible but takes a long time.
He didn't really like GA but found it useful for some to be accountable to in case he gambled.0
