I have to stop gambling
Cringe
Am hoping that the humiliation of finally saying that will kick me into touch.

Hi oregojn - well done, you recognise you have a problem.
Have you tried Gamblers Anonymous? I know someone that recently attended a meeting and found it immensely helpful on both a practical and emotional level.
People have been in your situation before and have managed to move on and conquer their addiction.
Good luck and I'm sure people will come on here that have been in your position.0 -
Well done ,for coming here , and admitting your issue
how do you gamble , for me its slot machines , i know its difficult and it will take a long time to get through it - firstly get yourself excluded from wherever it is you have been gambling

For me is overspending............I have thought nothing of being on my way to pay a bill or the rent. Saw something I in no way needed and thought, I WANT that. Then thought OH Ill pay two weeks next week ( of course when next week came I could not) or IL wait till the reminder comes in, by which time I had spent the money twice over.
We all have our issues, which is why we are here. Get it all out. The only way to move forward is spill it out and take the first stop forward.
Post daily all you ups and downs and look for help for you particular issue. I am off now to goggle and see if there is a "Over spenders Anonymous" ? See how your post has spurred me to look for some specific help.
Hang in there, we will get through this. x

Well done Oregon. May I ask what particular forms of gambling you have a problem with? There are plenty of 'roadblocks' which you can put in place, such as self exclusion and handing over your cards to a loved one, which may help you avoid gambling in the short and long term.Getting married to a wonderful lady on August 10, 2012.

its easy to stop anything, you just need to make a clinical decision and remove emotion from the equation.
