using windows media player maybe?? USe vlc media player or media player classic, both from filehippo.com. Between them they'll play pretty much ANY format of audio & video

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

didn't you install them (vlc and mpc) ??? both have installers to put them on your pc permanently, sounds like you downloaded the portable (.exe) versions...........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

because it doesn't contain the codecs (code-decode) to play that particular format. You can get codec packs for media player, but better to use players that can do more things without having to add extras
