What's the best memory card for a PSP

Can anyone advise me which memory card to buy for a PSP. Bought my hubby a PSP for Christmas with Anyone's Golf game. Now need a memory card so he can save scores/games so he can move on to next levels.
He wont' be doing any of the fancy stuff that I know the PSP can do - will basically play the games.
Should he go for a 1GB card or a basic 256 size, plus where is best place to buy a card?
All advice gratefully received. Thanks.

in the smaller sizes the sandisk cards are faster, th 2gb cards sony caught up and performance is about the same. If all he is gog to do is save games to it then he will be able to get away with a 32mb card and speed isnt really an issue. I would expect him though to learn what the psp can do playing movies and music are just the tip of the iceberg, new features comming out include GPS(rumor) and the psp will play PS one games so these will need to be stored somewhere. He may want to go down the homebrew route in time when he realises what he can do with it.
My advice would be to buy as big as you can afford, save games arnt that big but if he play loads of games then a small card 32/64mb could get full with all the saves. memory stick pro duo curently goes up to 4GB 8 is round the corner a 4GB should cost about £80.
You will now get people saying ebay are cheaper but there are too many fake memory cards out there to risk buying the cheap ones. then there will be those with fake cards and no problems I wouldnt like to loose a saved game half way through GTA or somthing.
If you decide to go for a smaller card check out Staples, they have a clearence section I was in there yesterday and they had 128 and 256mb cards for under £5 they all end in .91p to indicate clearence. I have no experiance of the lexar cards but they did have sandisk.0 -
For an average user, i'd recommend a 512 card or perhaps a 1GB. Just in case you want to put some music on there or watch some videos. I got a 1GB card on ebay for £9, turned out to be authentic which i was pleased about.formerly mrmilo690

You should have got a basic 32mb card with the psp. Have you checked the box?Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0

Thanks very much Guys - really helpful.
Hillfly - thanks, have checked box and PSP and no memory card. I only bought the basic psp - not a package. So maybe that's why.0
