    hiya prudryden,
    the wording is:

"It is agreed that after an initial period of six months, two months notice in writing may be served by either party to terminate this agreement"

the way i read this is notice can be given at end of 6th month at the earliest so we move out in 8th month, but agent is saying that notice can be given in month 4 so that we move out in month 6...having read 'after', i just assumed that for 6 months, neither side can break contract..but who knows!

    Ummm.
It seems that you would have an argument that you don't have to vacate until the 8th month - depending on the reasons the LL wants you to vacate e.g. he needs to sell whereby he would pay you to get out of the contract.

My contracts read: 12. PROVISION TO EARLY TERMINATION

"This agreement may be terminated no earlier than six months from the term commencement date by the Tenant giving two calendar months written notice or the Landlord giving two calendar months written notice to take effect from the next rent due date following service of such notice."

Both parties sign directly under this statement.
