Bullying tactics

Any thoughts any one?
This is about a buisness tel account so sorry if posted incorrectly
I took over a buisness a few years ago and kept the same telecom company (the goodwill kept but we changed the company name) I never signed or saw a contract and just paid the bills with out any problems.
6 years later they say I am out of a secured contract and are trying to bully me into signing one in my name with a 36 month notice period which i am not happy with.
If I dont they will suspend my tel No (that happened today no notice or warning) and assign it to someone else. Or they will go down the route that I am in a implied contract and bill me if I try to change companies (which is what i want to do now because of their behaviour) for leaving without notice (2k plus).
So am now in the situation of no phone number.
Any suggestions?

I would seek advice from Ofcom. It is not acceptable to use a telephone number to put a customer under duress, it distorts the market.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Please name the company.
It might be necessary to involve the police because that sounds like it might border on criminal behaviour.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
If you are out of your minimum term contract, then how can they bill you for leaving. You'd just have to give the normal 30 days notice.
None of this makes any sense. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I never signed a contract in the first place I just carried on paying the bill when it came in by DD.
Because I am out of a "sercured contract" I apparently have no right to the number if I choose to change companies even thought that was a extra number I had added (and given to them) to the account about 3 years ago.
If I argue that i had a form of implied verbal contract they said they would charge me early termination charge if i change company (though i would have kept the number) .
I said i was no longer happy using them due to their tactics in trying to force me into a 36 month notice contract.
I now have a office with no number untill a new line installed in about 2 weeks and the old company wont even let me use the original No for 2 week because i am not in a "sercured contract" even though it has been one for the last 3 years.
Note: I had 2 numbers in total with them one i took on 6 years ago (no longer have) and the added one 3 years ago.0 -
A signed contract is irrelevant. There is no such thing as a 'secured contract'-you are either still in a minimum term contract or you are not. If the latter, you can give notice and leave, they can't hold onto your number.
Just sign up with your new provider and migrate, no need for a new line. If you would name the supplier as requested, someone can check what the current T&C's are.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I tried to migrate and the company stopped it from their end.
Universal Telecoms now calling themselves 5g0
