Trouble with telecom company

Any thoughts any one?
I took over a buisness a few years ago and kept the same telecom company (the goodwill kept, company name changed) I never signed or saw a contract and just paid the bills with out any problems.
6 years later they say I am out of a secured contract and are trying to bully me into signing one in my name with a 36 month notice period which i am not happy with.
If I dont they will suspend my tel No (that happened today) and assign it to someone else. Or they will go down the route that I am in a implied contract and bill me if I try to change companies (which is what i want to do now because of their behaviour) for leaving without notice (2k plus).
Any suggestions?

Two thoughts, ask them to provide a copy of their contract with them in which these terms are laid out.
The other is to consult a solicitor ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

this might or might not be some help but im about to change my business number over from bt to orange on a fixed £21.50 per month fee
includes broadband all uk calls and business line rental on an 18 month contract
i keep my same number of 19 years
nearly forgot to add you get a bullying letter advising you might lose your number if you are with bt during the change, orange confirm this is NOT the case0
