hey hun! I arranged mine in 10 weeks with a 3 month old in hospital - it is fine!
My photographer I just put a little help request on some wedding online forums as we had, by then, zilch budget for one! We just said that we wanted a disk etc and if they did it at a discounted price they could use our photos in promos etc .... we got loads of replies. The photographer we went with had never done a winter wedding so wanted it for his portfolio - we got 2 discs one with 1500 photos and one with 500 edited photos and we paid him only his expenses of £50 plus his meal! And they are gorgeous!
Ways to keep food costs down.... my friend had a grogeous champagne afternoon tea as her 'wedding breakfast' and we werent hungry at all! she had sandwiches, cakes, scones, petit fours etc with tea, coffee and champagne - absolutely gorgeous! Then she had a BBQ in the evening... not sure this owuld be viable for you given the time of year but maybe a load of currys for the evening guests etc so people get something hot inside them? Mini fish and chips or bacon rolls are also popular now for the evening!
Dress shopping is fab! Enjoy! You may find that you cant get a dress from a bridal shop that needs to be ordered but go and try a few on and then search ebay, preloved and gumtree etc.....or you may even get the shop sample at a reduced price! I tried on my dress and was told it needs to be orderd 4 months before and the sample wouldnt fit over my breastfeeding chest ;-) but I managed to find it on ebay, brand new, never even tried on (it was from a shop that sold dresses from bankrupt shops) the fabric used to lace up the back was still in its packet - I paid £250 inc p&P for the £1100 dress!!!

    Happy organising!
  • Hog roasts are often quite good value, if you find a supplier locally. Follow this with coffees and plenty of wedding cake and people should be fine! I have just posted a massively long post about last minute weddings on the initial wedding posting on the list. Don't know if there's anything useful for you on there. I planned my wedding in just under 4 months and found a lot of bargains to be had at short notice! As for photographers, we used a friend who is a pro, which was great, but I'll bet there are some local photography students who would do fantastic work at a bargain price.

I just booked and organised my little sister's wedding in four weeks, for about £1500. We found the most amazing photographer on Gumtree of all places, for £350 for a full day. He is Polish, and his pictures were beautiful, quirky and very personal to the Bride and Groom. I found lots of reasonable photographers on there, went through their websites, and contacted the ones whose pictures I liked the most, and then my sister met them and picked the one she liked. Luckily she liked the same one as me.

Congrats and good luck, it is not that difficult at all to arrange a wedding, no matter what the magazines tell you! :D

We kept the cost down by having the ceremony at 11.15 then lunch at 2.30pm, and coffee and wedding cake th 6pm, everyone went home at 8.30-9pm. In our case it was also because the groom is seriously ill, and couldn't have lasted all night, and we only had close family there - 35 people in total - but it was a beautiful day, and long enough for everyone.

  • Not quite a wedding but I had a fish and chip supper from my local chip shop. I did a choice of fish and chips, sausage and chips or veggie option, bread and butter and accompaniments for 100 people for just under 500 pounds.

The local chipshop delivered and they were handed out wrapped up and everyone loved it!
