Hi again all,

For those who read my previous post, you will know by now I own a domestic & office cleaning company. For those that didn't know, you do now I stated in the previous posts that I wanted to get an article in the local newspaper for my business, but that I was told a simply "graduate starts cleaning business" is not good enough and that I would need to participate in some sort of event to get an article.

Well, been to a few networking events and seen some posters in shops around town, and a Craft Fair is coming up soon and I'm lost for ideas as to how I can participate in this

I'm thinking, maybe I can offer to clean up after everyone for FREE to promote the business, if I could distribute my flyers around in return? But was wondering if there was any other way I could participate in this as I believe it is a fantastic opportunity which I can benefit from hugely as the posters are everywhere.

Phone the craft fair organisers and ASK them? See if in return for doing clean up, you can give out flyers and business cards? But recognise the venue may already have cleaners, which the organisers are being billed for.

But think whether this is really hitting your target market? How many of these will have the money to pay for a cleaner, or an office they need cleaning? And it still might not get you in the paper ...

Vacuum marathon - your team get local businesses to sponsor you vacuuming for 26 miles and 365 yards. Money to local hospital fund. It also gets you talking to local businesses, and can maybe offer to do a part of the marathon at their premises (and tell the journo) in exchange for their sponsorship. Then more or less write the article for them, so if they have 3 'local people do something wacky for charity' stories to choose from that week, yours is easiest to use.
