Iberostar have cancelled booking

Looking for advice on where we stand regarding a booking that was made online on the Iberostar website and subsequently cancelled by them.

Details of the booking
Hotel - Iberostar Playa de Muro
From 1 July 2012 to 15 Jul 2012
Family of Four All-Inclusive cost 1900€

We received an e-Mail confirming the above reservation however, Iberostar contacted myself today to advise that they were cancelling the above booking as the price on the site was incorrect at the time of booking. The updated cost on their website is now 4923€.

I have already booked flights with Jet2 to coincide with these dates which now restricts me going to Majorca or lose £1000.

Lots of accommodation on Majorca, so perhaps just look for a good alternative.

Don't websites and brochures contain an 'Errors and Omissions Excepted' clause? Even if you had paid in full at the time of booking I think they might still be within their rights to cancel. I agree with Richard, I am sure plenty of good alternative accomodation should be available; have you checked to see if your accomodation of choice is available any cheaper through a third party website?

I've just had exactly the same thing happen to me (not with Iberostar).

Yes they have every right to cancel the holiday as long as it's outside of 10 weeks before departure.

I tried to fight my case - even getting solicitors involved but to no avail

Neither would be of any help in a mispricing case covered by Iberostar's t&cs. Even if you have no legal case there is no harm in writing/e-mailing Iberostar pointing out the difficult position its actions and mistakes have put you in and asking them to honour the original offer.
  • Thanks for the replies.

We wrote an e-Mail to Iberostar regarding the above issue.

They have replied and confirmed that they were within their rights to cancel the holiday. However they did recognise the inconvenience caused by us booking flights and have offered us 30% off our next booking plus one free night if the stay is greater than three nights. Although the holiday will still be more expensive than the original booked I have to say that I am pleased with this offer.
