Theorectical Question - Holiday Insurance

I will soon be booking a holiday for November 2011.
I have an annual policy that is valid until 19th Sept 2011.
If, before Sept 2011, I find I need to cancel the holiday due to a medical reason, would I still be covered, even though my annual policy doesn't cover me up until the date of the holiday (so this is assuming I would claim before the expiry of the policy)
Or should I take out another policy that covers me from the day I book the holiday and until well passed the holiday date? (i.e. another annual policy)
I dont have any medical issues, I am just being cautious.
I would prefer not to have to overlap 2 annual policies.
Many Thanks

If it's an annual policy that you plan to renew (i.e. have permanent travel insurance) then you must surely be covered at any time that you need to cancel your holiday.
If you need to claim before the end of this policy I can't see that they are going to know whether you are going to renew or not. In which case this policy must cover you.
Obviously if it's the sort of holiday that you think you should have insurance for then I'd say get insurance anyway!0 -
I will be renewing my annual policy, so that there is no lapse in cover, but I will not necessarily be renewing it with my current provider....
It's a bit of a grey area, I'm a bit unsure about asking the insurer as it might tempt fate!0 -
Your current policy will cover you for cancellation up until expiry regardless of the travel being after the expiry date.0
