Company using my address?!

We are moving out of our rental property one month today (eek!) so I suppose this won't be our problem soon, but it's very odd.

I keep getting post addressed to a company I have never heard of. After the first couple of letters I thought it was odd so I googled the company and, sure enough, they have this address listed online. It doesn't have a website or anything but it seems to be a letting agency. I know it's not the letting agency the landlord uses (and even if it was, why would they be receiving mail at our address?!) and I doubt it's anything to do with the landlord as I know he's a teacher.

I don't think it's someone who's lived here in the past either, as we have lived here 2 years and have only started receiving this mail in the last couple of months.

I have tried phoning the number listed for the company online but there's no reply.

I know it's not really a big deal as we are moving out soon, but I just can't help being curious! anyone got any ideas as to what this could be about?

Put the letters back in the post "Undelivered - return to sender". At least it will alert some senders that there is something dodgy about the company.

check if they are registered at companies house. If they are, and at your address, report them...

www.companieshouse.co.uk - use their "webcheck" service and look up any name that you've seen on their website. If any of them come up as registered at your address, I'm pretty sure that is a breach of the Companies Act 2006

Then they are either operating as a sole trader or they aren't a real company. Either way, feel free to bin their mail as they effectively don't exist.

Yes, so do we, but we have only started getting this mail about 2 months ago after living in the house for 2 years, and it is about 2 letters a week.

I tried calling the company again and managed to get through this time so it does exist....receptionist knew nothing and 'someone will call me back'.
