Has anyone used National Tyres for an oil change? Price is great, 6L of Castrol Magnatec fully synthetic and filter £38.25.
 Cheers
I've thought about using them but never got round yet. I need an oil change as it is over a year since I've had one done. But I've only done 6K miles since.0

Yes a long time ago then it was a tenner but standard oil not this expensive stuff they were good only fault Id say with any modern garage is they use suction to get old oil out instead of as I like to do which is let it all drain out all the bits of gunge at the sump bottom leave it overnight so long as you remember the next day Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10 Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10

yes, my last oil change in February this year was with National Tyres - they did the job in less than half an hour, on a quiet Sunday morning . I've had no problems with the product or the service for the oil change. 0 . I've had no problems with the product or the service for the oil change. 0

I used their Greenwich branch a few months ago for an oil & filter change. They drained it the normal way, by raising the car and removing the plug, not using a suction pump. The new oil was supposedly Magnatec - it came out of a Castrol oil drum, anyway. That's about all I can say really... they seemed to do a perfectly good job of it and no attempt to invent any urgent repairs I needed.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0

No, I haven't used them and there's not much likelyhood of me doing so at all.
When I enter my car's reg. mark it comes up with the correct vehicle but totally wrong spec. oil! The oil specified by them is for a non DPF(Diesel particulate filter)vehicle, mine being post 2009 has one so it requires a different spec. So chances are they would add the wrong oil even if I told them what their site says is not correct. It also needs a special sized tool to remove the plastic filter cover, again post 2009, so I'm sure they'd use the wrong size tool and don their stetson hats!0

Yeah used them, dropped the oil, not sucked it out, good job.
I got a discount for booking it online.0

The only question I would have for you guys is what type of cars are you taking for this change? Magnatec is a pretty poor quality oil and not good for any sort of performance or hi stress engine - should be fine for your regular fiestas/focuses etc though.
Other than that it's a good price for the work, I've just serviced my MR2 and the oil alone cost me £400

            mine is a bog-standard 10 year old Megane.0

Think Magnatec would be fine for your Megane its good stuff for most cars if a tad expensive for me ;) I buy Texaco Semi Synthetic not sure if its 10 or 15/40 but cost me about £12 last time from Morrisons petrol station or if you have a Unipart centre nearby my local back street garage always use their semi oil & you could pick up an oil filter at the same time.....I always like to prime the new oil filter too:eek: Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10 ;) I buy Texaco Semi Synthetic not sure if its 10 or 15/40 but cost me about £12 last time from Morrisons petrol station or if you have a Unipart centre nearby my local back street garage always use their semi oil & you could pick up an oil filter at the same time.....I always like to prime the new oil filter too:eek: Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10
