Wireless woes

A little knowledge is dangerous and I'm struggling to helpanother friend over the phone.
He's got a belkin s5d7633-4.
I've talked him through his internet WAN stup which has gone through OK connected via LAN. He's now enabled wireless without security initally and given a unique SSID. Unplugged LAN, found wireless network and connected (windows managing). Shows connected and excellent signal. However...will not display internet pages or 192.168 etc.
Got him to ipconfig release. renew but it displays media disconnected.
A bit stuck now. I've suggested he lets belkin manage his wireless network (he has a belkin network adaptor). Don't know if that's worked yet.
Any tips?

Post an ipconfig /all report if you are still stuck.
This may be of use, if it's a long way,

Try repair on the wireless adapter. That does a bit more than ipconfig/release renew.
ipconfig/all will show if he's connected to the router or not.
Disable firewall temporarily. Some firewall products automatically switch to more secure config when on wireless.0 -
cheers
About 6:00pm tomorrow night if you're online
many thanks
