When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :money:

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :T :j

Hello there good people :D

I hope you are all safe and well, wherever you are in this crazy world :grouphug: WelshWoofer - I hope you aren't near any of that...

Here's me:
  • Walking
  • Put £2 coin in my stash - got a mini competition going with MIL to see who can fill their Jelly Tots tube first  (we reckon that will be about £100) - nowt like a bit of competition to spur you on ;)
  • HM lunch to work
  • Leftovers for tea tonight - roast chicken - deciding what to do with it - oooh the possibilities are endless with leftover roast chicken :rotfl:
  • Working hard
Bit boring really, mainly just trying not to spend... (sounds simple!) Feeling pretty content with my lot atm so shouldn't be too hard.

Catch up later everyone!

Morning everyone - thanks for asking La E - I'm in the leafy suburbs plenty of distance away from the city centre but its still scary - just mindless thugs really with a pack mentality.

Anyway, at last my house is my own:j - the decorators have finished and there's no-one expected today so hopefully its a nice quiet day. Could do with one, its been like Picadilly here lately! I think the new colour will take a bit a getting used to but it looks lovely and clean and fresh - the only problem is that the living room looks a bit tatty and dowdy now. It'll have to wait for a few months though as it will need a new carpet, wallpaper, painting, new soft furnishings etc............

    Today's efforts...
    • Checked bank - £150 has been refunded to me from L&G mortgage repayment thingy that I've cashed in (must have paid the month prior to cashing it in:j) Done
    • Paid CC and Next Done
    • Pop to Dunelm to take back doormat (looks cheap in comparison to the new decor - ooh, get me!) and get print for the top of the stairs I saw last time Done
    • Clean guest room/office window ready for blind fitting Not done - pouring with rain!
    • Put vertical blind back up in the hall now paint is dry Failed miserably!
    • Touch up my own painting now everything is back in place (will only take 10 mins) Done
    • Hoover and dust Done
    • Do some school work (still haven't managed this!) Failed miserably!
    • All food from stores Done
    • Add to shopping list for weekend Done
    • Put kick boards back in kitchen now everything's finished
    • Walk dog lots Done in the rain
    • Have a nice bath later and do a face scrub and body scrub etc (now the house is done I need to work on me!) Done
That's all for today so far - hope everyone has a good day.

    [STRIKE]coffee morning at church[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]HC[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]airer dry[/STRIKE] doesn't look too promising out
    cancel cheque which didn't arrive
    [STRIKE]check surveys[/STRIKE] no new ones

that'll do for now I think

    Happy Wednesday everyone
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50
    Money Made £0/£200
    Overpayments £0/£200
  • Morning All, hope you don't mind a newbie joining in :)

Today I shall mainly be at work (clearly not getting much done right now!!) but here are my DFW for today
    • Chase O2 - they deducted £10 from my bank account, but haven't yet topped up my Mobile Broadband after telling me the transaction had failed. I've faxed them over a bank statement showing the money going in. Just hope they accept an internet statement and upload my data before I need to use it tomorrow
    • Lunch - homemade soup I stole from my parent's freezer. I go to my parent's for tea on a Monday, it's always some type of HM soup and HM bread and there is always some of last week's in the freezer which none of them ever eat.
    • After work I have Slimming World (aka fat club)... I usually drive the mile and a half there but may walk - however we are suffering torrential rain again today so that is doubtful
    • At fat club, stay within target range so I don't have to pay £4.95
    • Tea will possibly be some HM lasagne I have in the freezer, altho I didn't take it out so maybe not... It will be something cheap and cheerful anyway :)
    Happy Hump Day all :D
