The £49 is a single fare

You can buy a return for £53, leaving at or after 0930

By splitting tickets at Sheffield you could shave a few ££ off that.

What time do you need to be in Bradford?

If it's in the morning your cheapest direct ticket is £98 (Anytime Return).

However, as you're coming back the same day you can take advantage of Day returns and this is when splitting your journey can save your significant amount of money.

If you get Anytime Day Returns from Birmingham to Derby, then another from Derby to Sheffield and a third from Sheffield to Bradford this will bring your daily cost down from £98 to £46.60. The trains you travel on must stop at Derby and Sheffield if you take this option.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place
