You may be right.
I didn't assume that the employer was a shop, or that the goods would be on display.
My assumsion goes a bit further. To get a 50% discount I also assumed it would be a clothes shop, as there is not many retailers who make 50% or more profit on their goods.

surely you would know if it was faulty or potentially faulty?
I get very generous staff discounts in my trade (hotel Manager), but I would never quote legal reasons for rejection if I got poor service. I would of course feed back to the host management if there are aspects of the service which need addressing.0 -
