Scotsman East Coast rail offer

Thanks for the reply and I'm panicking a bit too!! I did purchase all 4 x tickets together in one transaction through the website and I explained this when I called the East Coast customer service. They didn't seem to be that familiar with the promotion though, so I can only hope that they just weren't familiar with this particular promotion. It does seem to say that one voucher can be used for a booking of up to four people, so I don't see why they'd need four separate vouchers, but I don't want to risk being charged extra when they check the tickets.
Thanks for also pointing out that it's also in today's Mirror and I may buy a few extra copies, just in case!!
In the meantime, I've also emailed their Customer helpline to explain the confusion, so I'll post their reply.
Regards,

Aha! Herein lies the problem! I suspect we'll find that we've been panicking unnecessarily. East Coast is currently running two newspaper promotions (that I know of, perhaps more?), so it's quite possible that the Customer Service rep was just quoting from a generic script. I'm more inclined to believe the written word in the Mirror T&C's but it'll be interesting to see what reply they give to your email.0 -
No reply from East Coast as yet, but I did buy some extra copies of the Mirror yesterday, just in case!!0

Even if East Coast come back and tell you that it's one voucher per passenger, others couldn't be expected to know this as it doesn't say that in the newspaper or online.
Irrelevant to the Mirror offer, but just to demonstrate the inconsistencies: the East Coast/Scotsman booking portal T&C's indicate a 1/1 voucher/passenger ratio, but in the newspaper and on the actual voucher itself it's 1/4.
In previous excursions the ticket inspectors have hardly glanced at newspaper vouchers as they haven't got time to pore over the small print - their main duty is to check that people have a valid ticket. Glad you managed to get more vouchers all the same!

Does any kind person have the code word from Monday's Scotsman? I was away and my good partner got the first two but didn't realise we'd need a third.0

Hope you find some good fares!
thanks for this - got 1st class to london for £11 - happy days!:TDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -

Did they ever get back to you, Adam? Just wondering what info they're giving out now! Can almost visualise the customer service rep thumbing through the wrong handbook ...

Hi there,
I've just received a reply from East Coast, which I've copied and pasted below:
"Thank you for your email regarding the reader offer currently in promotion.
The information given to you by our advisors is correct. You need one voucher per person in order to travel and this offer allows you to travel with a maxium of 4 people.
Unfortunatly I can see where the problems have arose and this is something we are aware of. The actual article was written by the individual paper. As the tickets are clearly stated as non - refundable I'm afraid we cannot re-inburse you for any of them and three of them will be void should you choose to travel without 4 vouchers in total which could result in you paying the standard fare.
I hope this helps clear up any questions you have."
From their reply, it would seem that you do need one voucher per passenger. I sent the email when I only had one voucher, but I did end up buying additional copies of the paper just in case, so fortunately I do now have four vouchers.
I'm glad I did get the extra copies and I hope nobody else ends up getting charged extra when their tickets get checked.
Hope this helps.

Just to add to my previous post, this reply relates to the Mirror newspaper offer. I'm not sure what rules would apply to any of the other East Coast promotions.0
