Break In Affecting Dog

Hi sadly I was broken into a few months ago (I was at church and only gone 2 hours). My lovely JR was in the house. Since then he is behaving oddly. He softly barks at night in the bedroom (I believe he was in the bedroom when the break in happened). They did wreck the bedroom - throwing drawers around the room. I have taken my dog to the vets but sadly they couldnt do anything - thankfully no physical damage.
Any ideas on how I can help my dog? I tried keeping him downstairs but he barked very loudly! Thank you for reading this far x

Oh i do feel for you. I was broken into a couple of years ago and shortly after found out that one of my two cats had cancer and i couldn't stop thinking about the trauma it must have put her through. There is a dog equivalent of Feliway for cats which i have used. I think it's called DAP.0

Awww poor little dog. I wonder if giving him an indoor kennel would help him feel more secure? If you cover it with sheets it would be like a little den for him to hide, sleep in.Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

dottygirl. It is a DAP diffuser and your vet will stock them. they are around £20 and like the plug in air fresheners but they release calming pheremones to calm dogs down and reduce anxiety. You also get it in spray format where you can spray the dog.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

as far as I am aware you spray the bedding not the dog! This is particularly useful where there isn't an electric plug- such as in the back of the car. I use it for my dog when travelling as he is getting more and more anxious as he gets older.
Wonder if it is worth a chat with Dorwest herbs- they make herbal remedies for pets- they might have suggestionsBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
