Hi all
Just had a quote as follows for my 3 bed semi-detached house.
Would really appreciate any feedback:
23 x twin sockets to hall, landing, bedrooms 1, 2 and 3, lounge, dining room and kitchen
New switches throughout
6 x pendants
2 x low energy fittings (downstairs and upstairs hall)
2 x smoke alarms
1 x switch fuse spur to boiler
1 x bt master 2 x bt slave
2 x outside light fittings (1 supplied)
Upgrade earth bonding to incoming gas and water supplies
New consumer unit (duel rcd 17th edition)
All new cabling
Plugs, screws, back boxes, grommets, sleaving capping, conduit etc..
£1950 inc. VAT
Dimmers are extra £12.50 each
All sockets to be flushed in extra £300 (originally i asked for sockets on walls but then asked for what cost would be to chase them in)
Does this sound about right?
Many Thanks :j

23 sockets over 6 rooms is fewer than 4 per room, excluding hall and landing. Nowhere near enough.
You may want additional points for table lamps or wall lamps, switched from the room doorway. These are usually run off the lighting circuit and fitted with 5A round-pin sockets. Bedrooms should ideally have multiway switches with the room lights and the bedhead lights switched from the door and the bedhead(s). You probably want multiple levels of light in the kitchen so you don't have to turn the floodlights on if you just want a glass of something in the middle of the night.
Light in the loft (wired off the ground floor lighting circuit, as if you're in the loft it may be because the first floor lights have died). I think you probably want lights in the bathroom(s) as well. Point for extractor fan in bathroom(s). Shaver points or mirror lights in bathroom(s). Sockets in loft for TV amplifier and using power tools up there.
Cooker point. Even if you use gas a future occupant might want electric. The additional cost is small when done with the rest of the work.
You might want your exterior lights (if they're not on PIR sensors) to have an additional switch in the main bedroom so you can turn them on if you hear something/one outside during the night.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Not sure where you are but that sound pretty cheap. Make sure you get certs and the electrician is registered

Thanks for responses guys
I'm based in the south east.
Quote is cheaper maybe because electrician lives in road next to mine so he said he would offer good rate as less distance for him to travel!0 -

??? We have had three quotes from three established and recommended electrical installers locally. ALL said 3-4 per room was normal and usually sufficient (excluding kitchen). If you are actually saying 3-4 per room is not sufficient then I think you are incorrect. We will be having more in the kitchen (probably about 8!) but in most rooms 4 is plenty. If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0 -
3-4 points per room standard and price is competitive.0
