More help needed please!

I have had help from here before when I started claiming PPI from Firstplus. And once again please can I have some more help and advice.

I was advised to send off a SAR letter - which I did and Firstplus replied to me within a week! I then completed the questionnaire to claim back the miss sold PPI and enclosed copies of the loan and PPI and forwarded it to them but is nearly 8 weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing!

So please help where do I go from here, shall I send them another letter or do I need to go higher?!

Thank you in anticipation for your help.

    Hi

So have you received a confirmation letter of your complaint?

I would ring them to check on this first if you can, there are backlogs but you should of at least have received a confirmation letter by now.
Did you post it by signed for/recorded delivery?

  • I sent the letter recorded delivery but have heard absolutely nothing back, so you think I should ring them and confirm that they have received the letter?

So you have checked with the track and trace ref number on the Royal mail website that it was received?
If so and it does confirm delivery, I would contact them and make them aware that you know they received your reclaim but you have not heard anything at all, not even a confirmation letter, they may even give you an update there and then.

However, if they start asking you questions, do not feel you have to answer them on the phone, tell them all the info is on the reclaim.
They may not ask anything, but tell them you just want some confirmation and a possibly update, good luck and please let us know, we can then take it from there.

Normally if you've not heard anything at all in that 8 weeks, you are entitled to take this to the FOS, and they will chase them for you.
I would check with FP at first instance though.;)

    Good luck.

  • Further update: - I have spoken to First Plus who stated that they had received my letter and had sent a reply (to my old address even though the form had my new one on!). They stated that they weren't able to help me because I had got the loan through Freedom Finance who are no longer trading so it had nothing to do with them. Therefore I had to get in touch with the FOS - and apply through them - is this correct because Firstplus supplied the load, Freedom Finance were just the 'brokers'. I asked Firstplus to send me a copy of this letter to my new address but have now been waiting for over a week to receive it. Also what do I send the same application form to the FOS as I sent to Firstplus and what is their address please.
Thank you once again for all your help. Sarah

Freedom Finance, a.k.a. Wilmslow Financial Services PLC was declared in default on 26 July this year.

    This means:

If the PPI was sold on or after 14 January 2005, you can apply to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme for assistance.

If it was sold before then you would not only need to demonstrate that it the policy was missold and you were entitled to redress but would then simply become an unsecured creditor of a business that is in administration - so there is little prospect of getting anything back, I'm afraid.
