Windows Updates Tues, 09.08.11

There were 14 Windows Updates tonight and I normally install all the important and recommended ones. However only 12 of the 14 were ticked which I have installed.

The 2 that were unticked and haven't been installed yet are

Update for Microsoft. NET Framework 4 KB2468871
and
Update for Microsoft. NET Framework 4 KB2533523

Any idea if these are required and why they weren't ticked in the first place?

For Windows 7, click start, control panel, programmes and features, click to view installed updates over on the left

See if you have .net framework 4

Thanks. Just checked and I have it for both my Vista and Windows 7 pc's.

Does that mean I need to install the updates?

What is .net framework for and what does it do?

Essentially it allows developers to create software that runs in a 'managed' environment, so it is far less likely to cause the operating system to become unstable.

My advice would be to install them unless you have a good reason not to, such as you having to manage your Internet connection's bandwidth as the two updates are about 70MB in size.

Many thanks, I shall go ahead and install them.

Any idea why they weren't already ticked like the other updates if they are necessary?
